Q- How old does my child have to be to participate in The Wheel Mill Camp?
A- 5 years old and up! Children under 7 years old will have to be accompanied by a parent anytime other than the 3 hours of camp. For this reason, we only allow riders 7 and under in our morning camps.
Q-What does my kid wear?
A- When it comes to clothing, you have a wide range of options. You want something they can move in but nothing too baggy or loose. For shoes, a nice flat soled sneaker. No open toe shoes or flip flops.
Q-Does my child need to own a bike to come to ride at the camp?
A-If you don’t own a bike, helmet and/or pads we offer a limited amount of rentals for campers. For the week, bikes are $60 + tax, helmets are $25 + tax, and pads are $25 + tax. Please call in 412-362-3693 or email email@example.com to reserve your equipment.
Q-Both of my children would like to attend camp, is there a discount?
A-If you are sending two or more children, you receive 10% off for all campers. To receive a discount please contact Mike at Mike@thewheelmill.com.
Q- What is your camper to instructor ratio?
Q-What if my child wants to ride in the park before or after their camp class?
A- To ride after class, select the Late Pick Up option which will allow your child to stay after class all week and practice what they learned. As for before class, special arrangements would have to be made. Please contact Mike@thewheelmill.com to inquire about early drop off.
Q-Does my child need a helmet?
A-Yes, everyone must wear a helmet at the park. We recommend full-face helmets, but any good fitting bicycle helmet is allowed. We also recommend pads for knees, shins, and elbows.
Q-Will you teach my child how to ride a bike?
A-Your child must be able to ride a bike on their own in order to attend class. They will learn more in-depth skills at the camp according to their experience level. If you would like to book a private “learn to ride” lesson please email firstname.lastname@example.org
Q-If I have to cancel our registration what should I do?
A- For a return, email Mike@thewheelmill.com. Returns for The Wheel Mill Summer Camp are only valid two weeks before camp begins. Credit will be issued in the form of The Wheel Mill Park Credit. There will be no refund there after.
Q-Do you have a place for my camper to store their stuff?
A- Yes! We have lockers. We recommend you bringing your own lock. If you do not have a lock, we sell locks for $3.
Q-Do you supply food?
A- Our camp does not supply food or drink. We recommend you packing a water bottle and some snacks, however we do have a snack bar with a variety of options where your camper can pay as they go. If you’re camper is using the snack bar, we can hold onto their money on their account so they do not lose it.
Q-Do I have to drop my kid off personally?
A-If you do not have a valid wavier, you have to drop them off the first day. Once proper paper work is taken care of then they can be dropped off and picked up by someone else. If your kid has ridden the park before, you will be good to go. If you have any questions about our waiver policy click this LINK.
Q-Can my kid leave their bike during camp?
A- Yes! We provide parking for your kid’s bike during the week of camp. The bike must be gone by the last day of camp.
Q-What certifications does your staff have to work with children?
A- We are all First Aid/CPR certified and have our Act 33/34 clearances.
