Are you a female rider who wants to learn to ride a bike better, for mountain biking or just for getting around town? This is for you!
Karen Brooks is teaching skills clinics for women at The Wheel Mill, every Wednesday evening at 7:30. Women get $4 off admission on Wednesdays, and the clinic is free. (Admission is good from 2-10pm.)
The clinics are beginner to intermediate level (depending on who shows up and what you want to learn).
Likely things to work on:
– the “attack” stance or “ready position” and bike/body separation
– looking ahead
– rolling off drops, then manualing
– going over small obstacles
– the pump track
The clinics will last approximately 50 minutes. Hang out after class and use your new skills to shred the park!
We will be closed for the 4th of July. We will be open for regular business hours for all other days around the 4th of July.
Starting next week we will be hosting free commuter clinics with paid admission to the park. Karen Brooks will be teaching every Tuesday and Thursday at 7:30pm starting Tuesday, May 27th. Learn skills to maneuver any road. Make your commute a joy ride and build your confidence to hit the open road on your bike!
June 1st: The Wheel Mill is going to be a part of this year’s City Spree! The City Spree is a 5K Race with No Course returning to the East End on June 1st. 5K and 10K runners and 5K walkers create their own path as they run from checkpoint to checkpoint throughout the city, trying to find the most unique path and score the most points. Check out the video from last year and register to run or volunteer for this year at www.cityspreerace.com, and come see us during the race!
On May 23rd, The Shadow Conspiracy’s Keep It Local Tour stops at the park with Seth Kimbrough, Albert Mercado, Lahsaan Kobza, and Mark Burnett from 6-10pm. We’ll be BBQing, riding, and listening to some live music by Union Rye! Come meet some of your favorite riders and have some fun.
Join us and Thick Bikes for a day of family bike fun! We’re going to have some cool giveaways for the kids, some fun races and challenges with awesome prizes and some fabulous raffle prizes (cough Strider cough) along with FREE PIZZA. Fun starts at 10am. The Fundamental Skills Area will be reserved for this party for 7 and under only and those riders parents.
